A host of free events will take place in Campbelltown from November 2 to 11, 2018, as part of the region’s largest festival of the year which celebrates Campbelltown’s infamous ghost, Fred Fisher.

The annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost is Australia’s only major festival inspired by an apparition and is one of Sydney’s largest carnivals. Held since 1956, the Festival is inspired by the ghost of emancipated convict Fred Fisher, said to have appeared in 1826 to reveal to police where his body was buried and the identity of his murderer. The legend has proved a popular story through the years, with the quirky Festival of Fisher’s Ghost broadening to showcase Macarthur’s rich and colourful history, cultural diversity and sense of fun.

The Festival will start with the ever-popular Street Parade on Saturday, November 3, beginning at 7pm on Queen Street. The Street Parade will feature local businesses, community groups and people from the Macarthur region lighting up Queen street with vibrant colours and ghostly costumes. This year the themes of the Street Parade is ‘Light and Life Under the Sea’ and ‘The Legend of Fisher’s Ghost’

The second weekend will see Queen Street transformed into a shopper’s paradise with the annual Street Fair on Saturday 10 November. With more than 100 stalls serving food, showbags, handmade jewellery, fashion and more it is an event not to miss. The Street Fair will run from 10am to 2pm. If shopping isn’t your thing, Mawson Park will be transformed into a fun zone for families with plenty of fun and free events for everyone to enjoy.

For the thrill seekers, young and young at heart, you must not miss the carnival at Bradbury Oval. Rides, sideshows, entertainment and food will be on offer at Bradbury Oval on November 2,3,4,9,10 and 11, with fireworks from 9pm on November 3 and 10, 2018.
