Communities will gather all over the nation in a celebration of life, light, hopes, and dreams as The Lantern Fest launches into 2016. Event organizers recently announced dates and locations for another highly anticipated tour.
“The event is all about community,” said Lantern Fest co-owner John Malfatto. “We are excited to share this amazing event with even more cities in 2016.”

The season starts on March 12, when the family-friendly event makes its Alaskan debut in Anchorage. Lanterns will continue to sail in various other cities, including Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, Omaha, Cincinnati and Spokane. The website is updated with new locations weekly as event organizers continue to work with venues in cities nationwide.
“With each city comes a new experience at The Lantern Fest. I love watching the community come together for this unforgettable spectacle,” said event director Preston Ward. “It’s not everyday you can attend an event that holds the same appeal to students, families with small children, senior citizens and everyone in between.”
Even before the epic release, the festival provides activities for everyone. When gates open at 3 p.m. families and friends can settle in, roast marshmallows for s’mores, explore local vendors, or enjoy face painting, balloon artists and inflatables. As the evening continues, the stage is filled with live entertainment, a children’s show and competitions until sundown, when the lanterns fill the sky.
Lantern Passes for many 2016 events are now available for purchase online. Participants are encouraged to register before January 1 to take advantage of the current pricing.
