Fiji Airways says Vinaka to it’s final 747-400

November 20, 2013 Aviation No Comments Email Email

Fiji Airways retired its second and last Boeing 747-400 aircraft yesterday, following the arrival of the 3rd brand new Fiji Airways A330 earlier this month.

The event marked the end of one era, the aircraft was the last “Air Pacific” painted aircraft and had been with the airline  for more than 10 years. Fiji Airways staff had the unique opportunity to say ni sa moce and vinaka to the aircraft in a rare opportunity to write on the body of the plane.

Emotional notes of thanks for many years of safe travels now cover the grand old lady of the sky. The event in Nadi also signified the beginning of a new era of a modern long haul fleet for Fiji Airways, with the short haul fleet having now completed their refurbishment under the new Fiji Airways brand look and feel.

The airline will progressively introduce a third weekly Hong Kong service from December and is working on a strategic review of its entire network.
