Fiji is the best destination in the world for beaches, resorts and family holidays according to the readers of International Traveller, whose votes in the magazine’s inaugural Readers’ Choice Awards 2015 have confirmed the island nation as the most popular destination for Australians in the South Pacific.
International Traveller readers voted Fiji ahead of Thailand, Hawai’i, Maldives, Bali and Tahiti as the world’s best place to visit for a beach getaway. Fiji was also named the best destination for a family holiday, ahead of runners-up Disneyland, Bali, Hawai’i and Thailand.
Fiji’s Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort was honoured as the world’s best resort in the eyes of International Traveller readers, who also voted the resort in as a runner-up in the best family hotel category of this year’s Reader’s Choice Awards.
International Traveller is a strictly-independent Australian bi-monthly magazine and website created to explore the full gamut of travel experiences the world has to offer. Published this issue for the first time, the International Traveller Reader’s Choice Awards attracted thousands of entries from readers voting for the best destinations, experiences, hotels and airlines of 2015.
“The current issue of International Traveller claims that a family holiday to Fiji is almost a rite of passage for Australian kids, and it seems the magazine’s readers − and a growing number of travelling Australians − agree,” said Tourism Fiji’s regional director for Australia Carlah Walton.
“Fijians love the fact that Australians are voting with their feet as well as their pens and visiting our beaches and resorts in ever-increasing numbers. We’re also really excited to see Australian travellers.
