A unique partnership between Awesome Adventures Fiji and Fijian resort owners in the Yasawa Islands will enhance the already distinctive tourism experiences on offer in the region.

A new ‘Project Awesome’ team will ensure authentic and quality experiences are being delivered throughout the resorts of Fiji’s remote Yasawa Islands.

In response to ever-evolving traveller demands, the ‘Project Awesome’ team will ensure travellers through these islands all experience the ‘real’ Fiji that they are there to see, while also ensuring they do so in reliable comfort with consistent service and product delivery.

Awesome Adventures Fiji Chief Executive Officer Peter Duncan said the company had a history of working closely with the landowners and villagers of the Yasawas in providing tourism experiences through the remote islands.

“Fiji has long been a popular tourism destination, but tourism in the remote Yasawa Islands is a relatively new concept, with Awesome Adventures Fiji opening up the island chain to tourists about 15 years ago,” Mr Duncan said.
“Island hopping through the Yasawas gives travellers a true taste of Fijian culture, unspoilt and spectacular scenery and a genuine experience of Fiji,” he said.

“We have always worked closely with the Fijian island resort owners and local villagers to ensure that travellers have an authentic taste of Yasawan life, and their beautiful surroundings,”

“However, with the Yasawas competing against international island tourism destinations, we need to ensure that our product offering has just the right combination of cultural insights along with consistently delivering services and products to guests’ expectations,”

“Travellers are looking for ‘new and unique’ experiences, which are readily on offer throughout the Yasawa Islands, and while the region has traditionally been a haven for backpackers to island hop, new resorts are opening up the Yasawas to a wider market, while our traditional independent travellers are also demanding more Fijian and consistent experiences,”

“Awesome Adventures Fiji, as the major operator in the area, has therefore established the ‘Project Awesome’ team to ensure that each experience we are offering creates a lasting memorable chapter in a traveller’s experience.”
GM Special Projects, Aisake Cabemaiwai, who heads up the Project Awesome team said there are two key areas of focus initially.

“Initially we will focus on resort facilities and resort catering – both of which have a lasting impact on travellers,” Mr Cabemaiwai said.

“The facilities team will look at how the Fijian culture is conveyed through the resort’s facilities – everything from woven bedcovers to local aroma-therapeutic showers,” he said.

“These fine touches add that authentic and genuine Fijian flavour,”

“Speaking of flavours, the catering team will work with island resort chefs to plan menus, upgrade food quality and even develop cocktail menus with a Fijian twist,”

“We are working with each of the island resort owners to keep them experience-focused, and to help identify what makes their experience unique from the next stunning island location,”

“Our ‘Project Awesome’ team is also in discussion with the Fijian Government on opportunities we’ve identified to establish new resorts which may offer new and unique experiences,”

“We are excited about the opportunities that establishing this team will open up, and the enhancements to the already awesome experiences on offer in the Yasawas.”
