Acclaimed speakeasy bar #FindTheLockerRoom welcomes Asia’s 50 Best Bars’ Legend of the List and Best Bar in Singapore, Manhattan; for a one-night only takeover on Friday, 23 August 2019. A grand hotel bar inspired by the 19th century’s Golden Age of cocktails and fine drinking, Manhattan prides itself in delivering a glamorous yet modern space reminiscent of old New York. To pay homage to classic and forgotten cocktails that leap from the pages of history, Manhattan’s menu has brought cocktail connoisseurs on a journey through the districts of the famous New York City borough.
New Bar Manager of Manhattan, David Nguyen-Luu started bartending at a tender age of 18, where he discovered his passion for craft cocktails along the way and opened his own venture The Julep Lounge, the first premium cocktail bar in Canberra, which landed many accolades. He went on to work at various reputable watering holes in Australia, where the bars and himself were awarded with multiple awards to commemorate his achievements.
Philippines-born Kelvin Saquilayan, started out as a floor staff in Regent Singapore. Working his way up in various outlets within the hotel has equipped him with the skillset needed in the award-winning bar. Today as a Bartender at Manhattan, Kelvin oversees contents of the rickhouse, and attends to the Flowing Bowls, injecting theatrics to the bar when preparing them tableside.
