The new Finnair Airbus A350 XWB took to the skies on the first of its long-haul services on 21 November 2015 heading off from Helsinki for destination Shanghai.

Finnair is the first European carrier to fly the Airbus A350 XWB which offers unrivalled fuel efficiency and passenger comfort making it the perfect aircraft to spearhead Finnair’s Asian expansion.

A total of 19 A350s are on order for Finnair with delivery to be undertaken in various stages and fulfilled in 2023.

Finnair Country Sales Manager – Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia, Geoff Stone, said interest in the A350 was strong from the Australian market across industry partners, repeat passengers and new clientele.

“There are so many great new experiences and services to be enjoyed on the aircraft in terms of the extra space, wider seats, advanced entertainment and Wi-Fi, signature dining, cleaner and fresher cabin air, quietness of the flight – and much more,” Mr Stone said.

Finnair continues to report heavy bookings out of Australia, with October sales up well over 20% above last year and increases having been recorded for all other months in 2015.

“This is an exciting time for Finnair and stay tuned for some Christmas special flight offers coming up,” Mr Stone said.
