Finns Cup Crowd Digs Deep to Raise Funds for Agung Evacuees

December 13, 2017 Resort News No Comments Email Email

Not even the threat of clouds could keep the crowds away from the Melbourne Cup gala at Finns for 2017. Despite a soggy cup day eve, 400 guests graced the red carpet for a Kodak moment before they made their way to the Moet Marquee on Tuesday November 7th for this year’s Melbourne Cup celebrations at Finns Recreation Club.

Despite November turning on a typically steamy morning, guests were dressed in race day finery with a few fascinators and fancy head bands even set to rival those on the best dressed list at Flemington! Tables exquisitely set and French champagne flowing, race day revellers tried their luck with sweeps for Melbourne Cup success and the excitement was palpable as the crowd mingled around the many television screens to watch the running of Australia’s biggest annual equestrian event.

Winners were definitely grinners and with the business side of the day done and dusted it was time to really have some fun. The Solemen crew were there in numbers to sell their signature Soleteddies and they worked the crowd tirelessly throughout the day to help raise funds to assist the Mt Agung volcano evacuees still unable to return to their villages inside the immediate exclusion zone. Traditionally, Melbourne Cup each year at Finns proves to be one of Solemen Indonesia’s biggest annual fundraisers and 2017 was certainly no exception. With all monies from sweepstakes, raffles, cash draws and the live auction finally tallied, supporters, sponsors and guests rallied together to raise a staggering total of IDR300,000,000 which will go directly to support this very worthy cause!

Of course none of this would be a possibility without the generosity of the day’s sponsors and their incredible donations of products and prizes and Finns would like to sincerely thank the following companies and businesses for their vital contributions to the day’s success:

Courtyard Marriot Seminyak, Moet & Chandon, Heineken, Singapore Airlines, Atlas Pearls, Karma Kandara, Hairhouse Warehouse, Bridges Restaurant Ubud, Bali Dirt Bikes, Bali Yacht Sourcing, Kasih Villas, Royalty Prussia, Indo Island Sail, Gili Getaway, Bukit Pandawa Golf & Country Club & Aneecha Sailing Catamarans.

After the auctions the on stage action continued with entertainment from the headline act of the day, The Voices – a stellar line up of iconic Australian performers the likes of Jason Singh, Mark Gable, Reese Matson and Paul Gray. With that amount of talent and experience to hit the stage, you can bet these guys did not disappoint and the crowd took to the floor to dance away the afternoon to some well loved Aussie rock classics.

Over for another year, Melbourne Cup at Finns has once again proven to be a popular affair, however the best way to gauge the success of such a day is to witness not just the enjoyment of the guests, but the level of generosity many of them will go to give to those less fortunate. Time to start planning again for next year Finns with a goal to set the benchmark even higher for 2018!
