Switzerland, the land of four languages, has been the perfect honeymoon spot for ages. A trip to this beautiful European country is all about the stark Alpine landscapes, once-in-a-lifetime journeys, and cherishable memories.

Albeit expensive, the sheer beauty of this place makes it one of the most popular places to travel in the world. Swiss vacation houses offer you some the most luxurious and hospitable accommodations in Switzerland with a majestic view of the Alps, for you to curl up after an eventful day in this country. And every day is an eventful day in Switzerland, as there are a plethora of activities and attractions for you to explore. So if you cannot experience all of them, here are five activities which you must do while you are in Switzerland.

5. Hop on to the Bernina Express

The journey on the Bernina Express is often dubbed as the most scenic train rides of all time. The coaches of this iconic train have large panoramic sealed windows all the way to the roof. This four-hour long journey will take you from a high alpine scenery of Switzerland to a Mediterranean atmosphere in the Poschiavo valley just before Tirano, Italy. The train will take you through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges. You must be on board for this iconic and scenic journey when you visit Switzerland.

4. Visit the Rhine Falls

You cannot leave Switzerland until and unless you have visited Rhine Falls which is Europe’s largest waterfall. If you are an adventure lover, you will be loving your time while you are here. This place is a great spot for water-skiing, skiing, hiking, skydiving etc. You can also experience this majestic waterfall up close and personal, by standing over a platform which partially hovers over the Rhine. For all of you who are looking for a more leisurely time, this place makes for a great picnic spot too.

3. Walk on the Kapellbrucke

Literally dubbed the Chapel Bridge, the Kapellbrücke is an ancient covered wooden footbridge which still hangs strong. The bridge contains a number of interior paintings, which dates all the back to the seventeenth century. This 204-meter long bridge was originally built in the year 1333. This is the oldest wooden bridge in the entire Europe, and it makes a compelling sight for you Swiss vacation.

2. Go for a Hiking Tour to the Uetliberg

 

One of the most popular hiking trails in the world, Uetliberg is the local mountain of Zurich. The journey can be a bit challenging in places, but the impressive views of the city, Lake Zurich, and the Alps that you get during the hike make it a must hike path while you’re in Switzerland. There are a lot of trails which go into the forests, or you can aim straight to the summit which lies 871 meters above the sea level. You can also go for paragliding to enjoy the scenery from a bird’s eyes’ point of view.

1. Visit the Matterhorn

Summiting the Matterhorn may be a bit difficult for some people. But if you’re up for it, hiking this mountain is the absolute number one must-do thing in all of Switzerland. The summit rises 4,478 meters from the sea level, which makes it one of the highest summits in the Alps. You can also go for a two and a half hour long guided hike to the observation point of the mountain. On some days, the views from this observation platforms are so clear, that you can even see as far as the Mediterranean. The Matterhorn is a majestic and mystical mountain which will surely take your breath away.
