Five-Star Destinations Where Aussies Get Luxury For Less

Despite a declining dollar diminishing the spending power of outbound Aussie travellers, the latest Hotels.comTM Hotel Price IndexTM (HPI®), which compares hotel prices paid in 2014 with 2013, has revealed fourteen destinations globally where Australians experienced five-star hotel luxury for under $250 per night in 2014.

When it comes to luxury for less, it’s a tale of two continents, with destinations in Europe and Asia making up the top five affordable five-star accommodation hot spots globally. In order, the five most affordable destinations for five-star hotel accommodation in 2014 were: Warsaw,Poland; Mumbai, India; Bangkok, Thailand; Delhi, India and Lisbon, Portugal.

“Asian destinations continue to go head-to-head to offer the best-value luxury hotel deals for Aussie travellers, while a depreciating Euro is also making Europe an even more attractive long-haul destination than ever before,” said Katherine Cole,’s Regional Director, Australia, New Zealand & Singapore.
