Flight attendant flees 27kg cocaine stash at airport

Having been singled out at random for a security check at Los Angeles International Airport, a female flight attendant suddenly dropped everything, kicked off her shoes and fled – and no wonder.

Former JetBlue flight attendant Marsha Gay Reynolds sprinted away from security at Los Angeles International Airport after ditching the 27kg stash of cocaine she was carrying, a court heard. She was so keen to escape she ran down an upward-moving escalator at the airport.

Reynolds pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine, having been arrested in March 2016.

After her arrest, Reynolds cooperated fully with prosecutors, leading a judge this week to sentence her to time she has already served in custody – which will effectively free her shortly from behind bars. She will spend three years on supervised release, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Marsha Gay Reynolds in happier times

The Transportation Security Administration says it selected Reynolds for a random security screening at LAX.

Moments later, Reynolds dropped her carry-on luggage and fled. She surrendered in New York a few days later.

After her arrest in 2016, the Jamaica Daily Star reported that Reynolds, daughter of an ex-policeman in Jamaica, was a former beauty queen who had once been runner-up in a Miss Jamaica quest.
