Fly Anywhere – A New Business Stream for Travel Agents

Fly Anywhere is a business that uses leading edge technology to connect consumers with general aviation. Most people are unaware of what is possible in a small plane or a helicopter and Fly Anywhere bridges this gap through the use of a simple but intuitive planning tool that shows consumers exactly what is possible. The target market includes travel agents, hotel concierges, pilots and aviation businesses and the potential audience is the travelling public, who use the software tools to gain access to the wide range of offerings in the general aviation market.

Travel agents who have traditionally been shut out of the general aviation market now have a genuine tool that they can use to add value to what they offer their clients and generate a new revenue stream at the same time.  A travel agent can sign up to Fly Anywhere and work in one of two ways either as an Affiliate or as a Broker.  As an Affiliate a travel agent will earn what amounts to a spotters fee, as they do little more than facilitate the contact between the client and the aviation business providing the service.

As a Broker the agent is the customer and has the capacity to add whatever mark-up he/she deems to be appropriate for any booking that is made.  The Broker option appears to be the most popular choice by travel agents so far, and that is scarcely surprising, but it does mean a little more work and direct liaison with the service provider.  The Fly Anywhere team have a great info graphic that explains exactly how it works for travel agents, and the website itself has loads of information and a range of FAQ’s that cover just about everything.

The Fly Anywhere team are expanding overseas over the next couple of months first in Asia and Europe and then to the USA.  To quote Robert; “We aim to be first to market in all those markets as we are already here in Australia”.  Asked about the rate of progress so far Robert says he is happy with the numbers, with 60 plus pilots and aviation businesses signed up a a number of travel agents already using the service; but he also says a November launch was not ideal because of the Christmas hiatus so he is effectively re-launching now and will be focussing on travel agents from now onwards.
