An airline passenger has shared a photo on Twitter to express the outrage he felt after finding something so disgusting in his vegetarian meal that it made a passenger seated nearby become violently ill.
Vegetarian journalist Rahul Raghuvanshi, who is based in Boston, was flying Air India from Hyderabad to Chicago in economy class when he discovered a large cockroach in his dinner. Even worse, it appears to be a partly eaten cockroach.
Raghuvanshi placed a photo of the horrid find on Twitter, captioned: “Air India now serves cockroach for vegetarian meals on AI127 #sicktomystomach #traumatized #cockroachinfood.”
Raghuvanshi told the Mail online: “I ate half of it. I just couldn’t bring myself to eat anything after I found the roach in my food. I was so nauseous.”
He says a passenger nearby threw up after seeing what he had found.
Raghuvanshi also claims to have discovered a long black hair on his in-flight blanket when he opened the sealed bag.
Air India has contacted its catering company, according to the Times of India.
Corporate communications Dhananjay Kumar said: “Air India took serious note of the incident and issued notice to the caterer concerned immediately. Further investigation is going on.”
