An Air New Zealand passenger says she cut her cheek on a piece of wire she encountered hidden in a lamb curry served on her flight.
Facebook user Ck Smith said the unsettling incident occurred while flying Melbourne to Auckland on flight NZ124.
She says on Air New Zealand’s Facebook page the first few bites of the curry were delicious until she chewed on a two-inch (five-centimetre) piece of wire.
The wire doesn’t look thick enough to be fencing wire (of the sort that keeps sheep in their paddocks). In the snap posted on Facebook it looks roughly the dimensions of a large needle or an unbent paperclip.
Smith described it as “very stiff with sharp ends”.
Air New Zealand is investigating.
