The weekend of November 5 and 6, 2016, will see Nelson Bay in Pot Stephens filled with cooking demonstrations, local wines, craft beers and a bounty of fresh, local seafood – all accompanied by some smooth jazz.
Tastes at the Bay is a popular food, wine and jazz festival which sees Port Stephens eateries and other local businesses come together to celebrate the region’s fine food and wine. The festival helps to showcase the fresh produce and bountiful seafood Port Stephens is quickly gaining a name for.
The fun festival will include a range of events across the two days throughout the Nelson Bay township and the waterfront surrounding d’Albora Marinas. Events include live bands, food stalls, cheese -making classes, oyster shucking displays the public can join in, sommelier talks and cooking demonstrations showcasing signature dishes from local restaurants. An array of jazz musicians will perform live throughout the festival and a selection of local wine and craft beer will be available for tasting. Some of the music acts performing over the two days include Half Nelson, Contraband, The Novatones, The Howard Ward Band, The Brass Rehab Band, Fruit Trees, Claudio and The New Orleans Quartet” featuring Eric Gibbons on trombone. Champion town crier, Steve Clarke, will also showcase his skills for all to hear.
A Progressive Jazz Luncheon Cruise will take place on Saturday, November 5. Guests will board the Spirit of Port Stephens from D’Albora Marina at 10.45amand disembark at Salamander Shores and The Point restaurants where they will enjoy fine food. Live jazz musicians will play at both venues, making the dining experience even more memorable. The cruise, including a three course meal, costs $89 per person.
