For the First Time, Winterworld Australia Is Skating into Two Special Locations This July School Holidays!

May 16, 2017 Whats On No Comments Email Email
Perth’s northern and southern suburbs are bracing themselves for a magical winter with predictions of icy conditions in Fremantle and Hillarys for three full weeks in June and July!

Winterworld Australia is skating into the Esplanade Reserve, Fremantle and Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, Hillarys from 24 June- 16 July for 23 days of outdoor ice-skating and spectacular winter wonderlands for all ages. Running seven days a week, from 8:30am to 9:00pm Sundaythrough to Thursday and 8:30am to 10:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

It’s time to put on your winter woollies (yay), get out into the elements and experience the true magic of winter! Winterworld is this July holiday’s most unique experience with its wide range of activities for the young and young at heart.

Winterworld will host a range of snow and ice related activities with unique offerings relevant to each location. Both locations will feature an enchanting open-air ice-skating rink, falling snow, live music, winter inspired activities and entertainment throughout.

Both skating rinks are accessible for all, including wheel chairs and ‘wheely friendly’ sessions throughout the season. There are special skates and penguin aids for tiny tots that will help them to skate with a bit more stability and plenty of late night skate sessions for that perfect first date, or a fun night out with your loved ones.

For many West Australians this will be their first experience seeing ice and snow. For others, it will be a chance to re-live some of the  exciting snow and ski experiences you’ve had on holidays. Winterworld Australia is bringing the joy of a white winter right here to WA.

Imagine ice skating on an open-air ice rink with falling snow dusting your hair, or the magic of building your first snowman!

Winterworld Hillarys will have you ice skating over the sparkling water on the breathtaking Sorrento Quay Boardwalk Amphitheatre – ocean views on one side and a cosy, covered family area on the other, with multiple delicious food and beverage options. Many local businesses are offering winter specials, so why not make a full day/night of it!  The amphitheatre protects you from the elements while skating under the stars and over the ocean – this is what dreams are made of!

Winterworld Hillarys’s ice-rink on the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk will open on 24 June until 16 July 2017. Skating sessions kick off at 8:30am every day, with specially designed sessions to nurture the little skaters amongst us, custom made double bladed ice skates perfect for little feet and friendly penguin skating aids. But don’t let the little ones have all the fun – outdoor ice skating is fun for the entire family!

This year Winterworld Australia is partnering with Sorrento Quay Boardwalk to extend the snowy fun throughout the centre. Activities will include custom designed winter inspired shop windows by local visual artist Desiree Crossing, snowflake fairies and loads more winter fun to be announced!

Winterworld Hillarys is proudly presented by Sorrento Quay Boardwalk.
““We can’t wait to give people another opportunity to skate on the water at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk’s Winterworld. Wintery activities will be spread throughout the centre, turning Sorrento Quay Boardwalk into a northern winter wonderland” said Sorrento Quay Boardwalk Centre Manager Nigel Steven.
