The companies will add a small number of Mustangs to Hertz’s Adrenaline Collection fleet across Sydney and Melbourne – following an expanded order of 2,000 Mustangs to come to Australia by the end of 2016.
“Many Australians come home with stories of driving Mustangs on the Californian coast and now can build their memories driving our iconic coasts for the first time in a Mustang sold by Ford directly from the factory,” said Graeme Whickman, President and CEO, Ford of Australia. “Hertz was the perfect partner for Ford given their famed history with Mustang in North America.
“We deferred this partnership until recently confirming 2,000 more Mustangs for Australia, which helped shorten the wait for many retail customers. A small number of Mustangs in the country’s biggest cities will help us reach a great number of people with Mustang’s magic – especially in a period of increased domestic travel.”
Hertz Adrenaline Collection:
The Hertz Adrenaline Collection includes high performance cars that have been selected for their sporty design to provide renters with a breath-taking driving experience. Hertz’s other distinctive lines of specialist vehicles comprise the Prestige, Family and Dream Collections.
“The exhilarating Mustang adds muscle and superiority to our Hertz Adrenaline Collection, it truly compliments the extensive range of vehicles we offer,” said Damien Shaw, Country Manager of Hertz Australia. Win a Mustang for the weekend:
It has been 52 years since Mustang officially went on sale, and Ford Australia and Hertz want to celebrate its first birthday in Australia by offering fans the chance to win a weekend excursion with the legendary pony car.
Hosted on Ford Australia’s social channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), fans will be encouraged to share their best creative ideas on how they would help Mustang celebrate its birthday.
The winner will be awarded a two-night rental of the iconic Mustang to bring to life just how they would celebrate.
The competition commenced at 9.00am Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) on Sunday April 17 and ends at 11.59pm AEST on Friday April 22.
A Ford-commissioned study of 1,000 Australians found the majority (77%) are opting for domestic travel over going overseas in 2016. The most popular option for family holidays is to visit iconic Australian locations such as the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru and the Great Ocean Road.
Ford’s commitment to Australia:
Mustang holds the highest favourable opinion of any of Ford’s volume nameplates and is the latest example of how Ford’s commitment to Australia continues to grow beyond its investment in local R&D, which has seen $2 billion invested over the past six years. Ford will be the largest auto-company in Australia by 2017.
Australia’s love affair with the Mustang and the arrival of 2000 extra vehicles comes hot on the heels of the recent launch of the Falcon Sprint and is all part of Ford Australia’s strategy to put more Australians behind-the-wheel of five world-class performance vehicles in 2016, which also includes Fiesta ST, Focus ST, and the upcoming Focus RS.
