Recent enhancements to the marquee at Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco makes the function venue ideal for themed events and group dinners.
Significant refurbishment of the roof capping, installation of ceiling fans and improved courtyard lighting as well as new ivy trimming within the marquee provides sound infrastructure for any event.
Director of Operations, Sharon McGuire says the marquee, which is a permanent structure with a hard standing floor, built-in bar and satellite kitchen, is geared for peak performance level in time the winter conferencing months. The Grand Marquee seats 180 banquet style and is located next to the resort’s Village Hall (perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or as the actual conference venue).
The resort has also added a Boardroom to its four existing meeting spaces of the Orangerie Conference Room, Grand Marquee, Village Hall, and the Executive Cottage.
The new Boardroom seats 6-8 people around a large table and is perfect for small formal meetings, interviewing, and similar.
Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco offers various styles of accommodation onsite, ranging from standard hotel rooms to self-contained cottages. Last year saw the refurbishment of the 20 hotel rooms completed, the Riverside Studio apartments being repainted, new equipment installed in the gym, and Ultra-Fast broadband (UFB) WiFi introduced across the property.
In December 2015 the website was rebuilt on a mobile optimised platform with a new enquiry capability for conference and event organisers.
The resort, located on the waterfront near Nelson airport, offers a mix of apartments and hotel rooms as well as a restaurant The Monaco Kitchen, function rooms, permanent marquee and pool/gym complex.
With any refurbishment programme, Mrs McGuire acknowledges the importance of maintaining the traditional charm the property is known for (similar to an English village), while ensuring the level of comfort and quality continues to be worthy of the hotel’s four star plus Qualmark rating.
