IST_106_aspect16x9Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet is ready to welcome music lovers during the 43rd Istanbul Music Festival, organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) and sponsored by Borusan Holding. The Festival centres on the theme “Cultural Landscapes” with performances by world-renowned classical musicians, prestigious arts organisations and many of Turkey’s leading musicians and composers between May 31 and June 29, 2015.

The festival will once again be held at a number of different venues. Set in the historical peninsula, Four SeasonsHotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet has a convenient location due to its proximity to Hagia Irene Museum, one of the most attractive concert venues. Being a defining monument of Istanbul, Hagia Irene Museum is located in the garden of Topkapi Palace, only steps away from the Hotel. A concert ticket during the festival can be turned into a great excuse to enjoy a fresh summer drink in the enchanting surroundings of the Old Town.  Whether at Seasons Restaurant’s cosy coutyard or A’YA Lounge overlooking St. Sophia and Blue Mosque, special moments will embrace festival guests. The concerts at Hagia Irene Museum will take place on June 1, 4, 22, 23, 24 and 26.

The 43rd Istanbul Music Festival will host close to 600 local and international artists in Istanbul. This year’s theme “Cultural Landscapes,” which will take shape through the festival’s various concerts, is a reference to the nationalist movement that arose through the increasing consolidation of European borders in the 19th century and the increasing importance of folkloric elements in music that followed this movement, centred on topics of identity, belonging, and geography. The festival, which will be host to two world premieres and three Turkish premieres, will be comprised of 27 concerts, consisting of symphony and chamber orchestras, vocal concerts, and recitals. The free open-air concert series titled Sunday Classics, which garnered great attention last year, will be expanded and presented to music lovers under the title Weekend Classics.
