Four Seasons Hotel Macao Embraces The Trend Of Japanese Sake

April 9, 2018 Beverage No Comments Email Email

Japanese sake may give an impression of tradition. However, as the younger generation has taken over the traditional sake breweries in recent years, many new elements have been introduced to complement the well-retained traditional features, bringing endless surprises to the iconic alcoholic beverage of Japan. Among the dazzling new stars, the renowned Masumi Sake is among the most famous, with its renown dating back to the ancestors of the Miyasaka family, who have been brewing sake since 1662. If you like the Japanese sake culture, don’t miss out on the upcoming Japanese sake event in April 2018 attentively curated by Kaleb Paw, Chief Sommelier of Four Seasons Hotel Macao.

Japanese Sake Master Class

The name Masumi has been used since the late Edo period (1603-1867). Starting off at a very small brewery, the Miyasaka family has evolved the elegant and soothing Masumi sake into a repeated gold medal winner at the Annual Japan Sake Awards. With countless visitors and students at its doorstep every day, Masumi finds itself becoming a school of sake.

To improve the knowledge of Japanese sake both within the industry and among drinkers in Macau, Kaleb has invited members of the Miyasaka family to hold an Advanced Course on Japanese Sake at the Hotel’s banquet hall on April 13, 2018. Particpants can learn from Mr. Miyasaka without having to fly to Japan. The fee is MOP 488 per person. For registration, call (853) 8112 8308.

F2Japanese Sake Festival

To pay tribute to the Japanese sake trend, the Friday wine tasting event F2 (Fridays at Four Seasons) will host a special Japanese sake night on April 13, 2018  at Bar Azul. Guests can enjoy the traditional Kagami Biraki ceremony and three Japanese sake cocktails at MOP 228 per person. For reservations, call (853) 2881 8828.

Japanese Sake with Portuguese Snacks

On top of the above, Chef Tiago Leal will also bring his Portuguese snacks to the event. He has invited Chief Sommelier Kaleb to match his specially-designed menu of four Portuguese snacks with the right sake. This exceptional experience will be available at Windows from April 13 to April 30, 2018. The fee is MOP 428 per person. For reservations, call (853) 2881 8822.
