Bundle up from the icy winter weather for the 16th Annual IceFest in downtown Chambersburg to help shake off the winter blues! The streets glimmer with the beauty of winter and the twinkling lights that line the streets along Main Street.

From Thursday, January 25 until January 28, enjoy 80 ice sculptures lining the downtown, including towering giants and sculpted ice thrones. These lit sculptures can break up the winter blues for the whole family.

Catch a glimpse of the master carvers of DiMartino Ice sculpting blocks of ice into works of art, take a chilly ride on the carved ice slide, shake it up at the Snowfall Ball, watch live glass blowing demonstrations, watch as local community members are dunked during the Polar Dunk Plunge and taste test chili at the famous Chili Cook-off. Taste delicious cake and vote for a favorite at the Icing on the Cake competition on Saturday at the Capitol Theatre.

New for 2018 is a live carve-off after the ribbon-cutting on Thursday on the courthouse plaza between local carver Danny Kissel against one of the DiMartino Ice Company carvers. They have 30 minutes to carve a single-block of ice into a fantastic creation. The crowd will decide the winner!

Icy fun continues throughout the weekend with a scavenger hunt that takes participants on a chilly quest downtown with the chance to win prizes. Kids also can enjoy an obstacle course and kid zone and returning for 2018 is the “Run Your Ice Off 5K” on Sunday.

Chambersburg’s downtown merchants are welcoming visitors with all types of specials. Duck inside the boutique shops of downtown, warm up, and shop a little. Many are offering extended hours or specials good for the weekend. Food vendors are arranged around the square, and downtown has a number of restaurants–Molly’s Restaurant, Square One, Checkos, Texas Lunch, Main Street Deli, Fusion, Veroni Café and Bistro 71 to name a few.

This and more is waiting for visitors January 25 through January 28! For more information, visit http://www.explorefranklincountypa.com/home/icefest-2018/.
