Growing demand in Australia for holidays to South and Central America has paved the way this week for the
second annual Latin America Travel Week, with Sydney travel agents invited to a free trade expo and workshop this Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Organised by the Australian Travel Association for Latin America (ATALA), the agent event will showcase products from 27 exhibitors from across Latin America, with complimentary drinks and canapes also offered. The agent function will be held from 6-9pm at Dockside at Cockle Bay Wharf in Sydney on Thursday, August 24, 2017.

One lucky agent attending the Sydney trade expo this Thursday will win a prize holiday to Ecuador for two people, including return flights with LATAM, two nights in Quito at the beautiful Illa Experience Hotel and a four-night Galapagos cruise onboard the Isabella II.

Latin America Travel Week is sponsored by LATAM Airlines Group, Prom Peru, Turismo Chile and Inprotur Argentina.

As part of the special week, a full-house, evening agent expo is being held in Melbourne on Tuesday August 22 (registrations now closed) and free public travel expos are being held in Melbourne (last weekend) and in Sydney this Sunday, August 27, from 10am-4pm at Sydney Town Hall, which the travel industry is also invited to attend. One lucky visitor to the Sydney and Melbourne public travel expos last weekend and this weekend will win a luxury holiday for two to Peru including flights with LATAM, accommodation in Belmond hotels and a deluxe train journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu onboard the Belmond Hiram Bingham train.

This week’s events, including the travel agent function in Sydney this Thursday night will bring together airlines, hotels, cruise lines, tour and travel operators as well as tourism bodies from Australia and Latin America – all showcasing the many countries that make up South and Central America as well as cruises to Antarctica.

ATALA Chairman, Ted Dziadkiewicz, said Latin America Travel Week provided the travel industry with the perfect opportunity to capitalise on the growing appeal of Latin America for Australians.

“More Australians are looking at South and Central America as exciting holiday destinations with a sizeable increase in airline capacity in recent years,” Mr Dziadkiewicz said. “Direct flights from Australia are now also more affordable so ATALA’s travel agent expo brings all the major players together in one place so that more agents can offer their clients dream holidays to this spectacular and vibrant continent.”
