FreeSpirit cements its place as leaders in the holiday park management industry

October 4, 2013 Hotel News No Comments Email Email

FreeSpirit Resort and Holiday Park Management have added a South Australian caravan park to their national portfolio as their presence in the caravan park industry continues to thrive.

The company was formed in 2004 to assist corporate entities that invested in holiday parks or resorts but did not have the expertise, or need, to manage them.

FS Operations Manager Danella Rockley, Chief Operations Officer Yvonne Bristow being presented their Gold Coast Business Excellence AwardFreeSpirit was awarded the management role for Brighton Caravan Park in Kingston Park, Adelaide where they plan to work closely with the City of Holdfast Bay Council to redevelop and turn it into an all-year holiday park with a strong family focus.

FreeSpirit Senior Operations Manager Danella Rockley says now more than ever they are being looked at as an advisory group for the caravanning and holiday park industry in Australia.

“While we’ve always provided the consultancy services in terms of park operations, master planning and caravan park redevelopment, it is only just now becoming widely known,” Ms Rockley says.

“Now that people are aware of who we are and what we do, interstate operators are calling us for advice on how they can transform their outdated parks into bustling holiday hubs once more.

“Further to our new park in SA, we are also still working with the government and council in Canberra on the development of a new tourist accommodation facility at Canberra’s major event complex.”

FreeSpirit was also recently announced as the Tourism, Hospitality and Events category winner in the September Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

Ms Rockley says they are continuously being recognised for their innovative approach to the industry, with staff training and education in particular.

“We most recently received recognition on a local level for what we’re achieving nationally through last month’s Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards,” Ms Rockley says.

“We believe it’s largely due to the innovative training practices we’ve developed for the caravan park industry with the FreeSpirit Online Operations Resource Manual.

“To support the resource, we established a liaison with a TAFE based in Victoria, in addition to employing our own full-time trainers to conduct all of our training onsite.”

Ms Rockley says since the official unveiling of their online training resources manual at the Caravan, RV and Accommodation industry of Australia (CRVA) Conference in May this year, they have gained a national reputation as the industry’s thought leaders.

“After introducing our resources to the industry, we have had a spike in enquiries from all over Australia, as there is no other company in this space with the same level of knowledge and experience as our team,” Ms Rockley says.

“People are approaching us about training and accreditation for employees and park managers coming to us as the top trainers in the industry to further their own training.

“We’ve even seen a number of workers seeking out employment opportunities turn to us for direction as to what qualifications they need to get in the industry and where to apply.”

FreeSpirit provides selective operational management services, training and development, master planning consultancy, marketing and design services for the industry.

FreeSpirit currently manages five holiday parks – Darwin FreeSpirit Resort and Hidden Valley Tourist Park in the Northern Territory, Hervey Bay’s Fraser Lodge Holiday Park in Queensland, Yamba’s Blue Dolphin Holiday Resort in New South Wales and Brighton Caravan Park in Adelaide.
