Revitalising Granny Mouse’s Country House & Spa’s legacy for a new generation of travellers, this popular KwaZulu-Natal Midlands hotel embraces fresh ideas brought on by the new season. Nothing is too much trouble for the team and everything is beyond expectation at this special retreat.

This month, the hotel launches an enticing Gourmet Tasting Menu as well as an enchanting new menu in the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, the Eaves. The culinary creative team invites visitors from near and far to experience this gastronomic fare.

Fashioned in a modern yet characteristic quaint style, this innovative four-star hotel reveals a unique philosophy that combines the utmost in hospitality and service.

Delectable cuisine is one of the foundations of Granny Mouse’s renowned hospitality where talented chef Ryan Brand lives up to one’s loftiest expectations and ensures that both the Gourmet Tasting Menu and the full menu available at Eaves cater to each individual guest’s preferences.

The Gourmet Tasting Menu introduces the guest to the Chef and his team’s creativity – and whenever possible, the dishes draw on the finest that is available each season. The establishment wholeheartedly endorses environmentally friendly farming practices and humane free-range animal rearing.

The Gourmet Tasting Menu, available on Saturdays and Sundays from November 2013, includes three bite-sized dishes of prawn, beef tartar and spiced ice-cream, expertly paired with three different wines for the price of R125.00 per person. The special experience can be enjoyed in the restaurant or weather-permitting, on the Eaves deck.

Each course in the Eaves’ latest full menu is available in both starter and main portions, which is an attractive option that enhances the opportunity to try more of the tasty treats on offer. The choice includes roast beef fillet, seafood platters and the crème de la crème of braised warthog and artichoke puree. Prices are reasonable for both the food and the rich selection of wines.

Alternatively, guests can enjoy the five-course Degustation Menu, which will from September offer a fresh caprese salad, smoked salmon, a must-try beef soup, chicken roulade served with among others goats cheese polenta, and date pudding accompanied by rose jellies and Ideal Milk ice-cream, as well as hazelnut nougatine and pastry cream. For the finest in dining, allow the Chef to match each course with the perfect wine.

A visit to the quaint, cosy cellar is a must – where it is possible to have a dinner ‘a deux’ or host a small gathering. Alternatively, conclude the evening with a visit to the Cigar and Single Malt Bar.
