From Lima to New York, Urban Adventures adds a dozen new tours for food-lovers

Global day tour company, Urban Adventures has added a dozen new tours that introduce travellers to authentic, local cuisine. 

Led by local tour guides with the inside scoop on their city’s food scene, the new tours range from a home-cooked meal with a local family in San Jose, to a food crawl through Brooklyn in New York, and a chance to make your own Pisco sour on a night out in Lima. Highlights of the new tours include:

Flavors and Murals of the Mission, San Francisco (2.5 hours, US$58) – dunk artisan donuts, munch on Mexican pastries, taste tacos, and tuck into pies while admiring the many murals of San Francisco’s historic Mission district.

Neighbourhood Eats: Brownstone Brooklyn, New York (3 hours, US$60) – from Italian to Middle Eastern, New American to everything artisan, sample the best bites that Brooklyn has to offer and learn why this neighbourhood is now the centre of New York’s burgeoning food scene.

Ningxia Night Market Tour, Taipei (2 – 3 hours, US$59) – discover hundreds of delicious Taiwanese dishes, from fried yam balls to pork leg rice, herb soup and oyster pancakes, among the hustle and bustle of one of the most popular markets in Taipei.

Food With Altitude, La Paz (3.5 hours, US$52)  see how Bolivians turn humble ingredients into greatness, while trying local delights such as tea made from lightly-toasted cherries mixed with cinnamon sticks, fresh fish from Lake Titicaca and traditional potato soup.

Home Cooked Kastoria (3 hours, US$25)  be welcomed into the home of a local family to learn about local life, pick up some Greek cooking tips, and sit down to share a traditional meal together.

Ljubljana Bites & Sights (3 hours, €55) – explore Europe’s most romantic but underrated city, stopping at local bars, cafes and taverns to sample local specialities including Slovenian wines, cheeses, charcuterie, schnapps, and a cake that is named after Roman Ljubljana.

Home Cooked San Jose (4 hours, $52) – taste authentic Costa Rican food and make new friends, as you are welcomed into the home of a local family to cook and share a meal together.

Madrid Tapas Adventure (3 hours, €58) – learn the difference between a pintxo, a tapa and a ración, and get the inside scoop on what makes a good jamón, as you taste some of the city’s most delectable tapas at a popular night market, traditional taverns, and cool local spots.
