The Island of Moorea lies a few kilometres shy of northwest Tahiti. You would most likely have come across Moorea in wedding magazines and other websites meant for travelling couples, but I wanted to share with you some fun facts you may not know about the beautiful Island of Moorea.

•     In Tahitian, Moorea literally means yellow lizard. There are other names of which this island is referred to such as York Island and Aimeho.
•    One of the most fascinating facts about this island is that the entire area resembles the shape of a heart. However, this is not necessarily the reason for this place to become honeymoon central.
•    The over-water bungalow was invented in the 1960s on the island of Moorea by three Californian men who turned a failed vanilla plantation into a tourist village, called the Bali Hai Moorea.
•    The Island offer an abundance of superfoods to kick-start your healthy habits for the year including pineapple plantations, coconut groves, and Noni juice, known locally as a cure for a number of diseases.
•    Tahitians are considered some of the healthiest and happiest people on the planet, so go and inject some of the mystical Mana into your own life.
(In Tahiti, mana is considered the life-force and spirit that surrounds us)
•    There are no poisonous snakes or insects on the Island.
•    Residents have boxes outside their home that look like mailboxes but are actually for French bread delivery. OM NOM NOM.
•    You can golf, run a marathon, cycle a road race, or take part in a triathlon in paradise.
