G Adventures Brings South Africa To Australia

G Adventures Micro Famil Cape Town's Cable MountainMorning ‘Game Walks’, climbing Cape Town’s Table Mountain and sampling local South African cuisine were on the agenda for agents across the East Coast of Australia as G Adventures, the world’s largest adventure tour company, took 27 agents on an interactive learning experience across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Dubbed ‘micro-famils’, these experiences are designed to educate agency partners on the destinations travelled to as well as the unique experiences available through G Adventures style of travel. Taking them outside the traditional classroom and offering a hands-on learning experience.

The agents, from a range of agencies including Jet Travel and Cruise, Reho Travel and Travel Manager, explored each city with South Africa’s highlights in mind.  Brisbane-based agents climbed ‘South Africa’s Table Mountain’, otherwise known as Storey Bridge, Melbourne agents were treated to a ‘Safari Walk’ on the search for the Big 5 and Sydney saw agents enjoying traditional South African food at a local Shebeen restaurant.

“The ‘micro-famil’ was a huge hit, we’ve already received feedback from agents who came away from the day feeling inspired, and more comfortable selling South Africa to their clients after getting a much better idea of the country’s culture, attractions and travel considerations,” explained Melyne Hovasapian, South African Tourism Trade Relations Manager, who joined agents on the Sydney micro famil.

Growing in popularity, past G Adventures micro-famils have seen sales in the destinations ‘explored’ on the day increase by almost 50%  as a direct result of agents taking away valuable knowledge/insights presented to them through a range of innovative training methods.
