G Adventures Responds to Devastation Wrought by Typhoon Haiyan

Following the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, adventure tour operator G Adventures has today launched a $25,000 aid appeal to support the long-term recovery of the affected communities in the Philippines.

G Adventures and its non-profit foundation Planeterra are partnering with Architecture for Humanity to raise funds to support the long-term reconstruction of the devastated regions.

“Many relief agencies worldwide are currently working to provide the food, shelter and medicine to those impacted by Haiyan. Once the immediate needs are addressed, there will still be much left to do. It will take months, even years to rebuild the Philippines,” said Bruce Poon Tip, G Adventures’ founder.

Donations, which can be made at, will help rebuild communities, schools and clinics, and mobilize teams on the ground to help those in affected areas build back better and stronger.

G Adventures covers all administration costs so 100 per cent of all donations can directly benefit the initiative. The tour operator will also match dollar-for-dollar up to $30,000 (at a maximum of $5,000 per donation).

Planeterra and G Adventures have a successful track record of supporting the efforts of local partners on sustainable projects needed to make a long-term difference, especially in countries the tour operator travels to.

“Our world is an amazing place to explore and has given us so much. When part of it is in trouble, it is our duty to step in and return the favour,” said Poon Tip. “We know our travellers and partners care. As with our past relief efforts in Haiti, East Africa and Peru they supported and championed, they want to contribute and make a lasting, tangible difference.”
