Galaxy Entertainment Group Shines In Michelin Awards

unnamed (6)Galaxy Entertainment Group is proud to announce the Group and its flagship properties, Galaxy Macau™, StarWorld Hotel and Broadway Macau™ have been recognized with a total of 17 high-profile awards from the prestigious MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong and Macau 2016. The Guide, now in its eighth edition, was revealed today.

Eleven restaurants and six hotels across Galaxy Macau, StarWorld and Broadway Macau were listed in the Guide – a definitive testimony to the world-class accommodation and dining catering to guests across the resorts, with three restaurants receiving MICHELIN-star ratings. In addition, the new Broadway Macau property which opened in May 2015 received three mentions in this prestigious guidebook.

StarWorld Hotel

StarWorld Hotel earned its first MICHELIN star with Feng Wei Ju. Feng Wei Ju has brought together the cuisines of Hunan, Sichuan and Northern China in a restaurant experience with home-cooked flavors since its opening in late August 2014. Executive Chinese Chef Chan Chek Keong and an elite group of chefs from these regions employ the freshest and the most authentic ingredients and cooking methods, creating Macau’s most unique Chuanxiang flavor and contributing to this first-time MICHELIN star rating. This MICHELIN-starred restaurant’s signature dishes include “Boiled River Fish Fillets in Hot Chili Oil,” “Deep-fried Chicken Fillets with Red Chili and Peanuts” and “Braised Beef Loin with Lotus Paste.”

StarWorld Hotel’s continental restaurant Temptations has been recommended in the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong and Macau 2016.Temptations offers a world of contemporary continental and international delicacies with unforgettable signature dishes. The Portuguese seafood rice prepared by Executive Culinary Manager Joe Chan has been recommended by CNN Travel’s list of “10 Must-try Macau Foods.”

Galaxy Macau™ and Broadway Macau™

Five hotels and nine dining outlets across Galaxy Macau and Broadway Macau were listed in the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong and Macau 2016.

“With the opening of Phase 2 in May 2015 which doubled the size of the property, Galaxy Macau now has over 120 food and beverage outlets, boasting the widest selection of international cuisine in Macau. This year, the MICHELIN Guide Awards recognize our accommodation and culinary achievements – from fine dining to the best of street food at Broadway Macau – reinforcing our position as the Most Spectacular Entertainment and Leisure Destination in the World,” said Kevin Clayton, Chief Marketing Officer of Galaxy Entertainment Group.

Signature dish: Seared Red Tuna

8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA, Galaxy Macau, newly opened in Galaxy Macau this year, was awarded one star in recognition of its world-acclaimed Italian cuisine under Chef Umberto Bombana, hailed as the “Best Italian Chef in Asia.” Executive Chef Antimo Merone continually impresses guests with his superb dishes including “Napolitan Ragù” Pappardelle” and “Seared Red Tuna.”

Terrazza, famous for its menu built around the finest Italian flavors and great wine selection, made its second consecutive MICHELIN Guide appearance and, in an exciting upgrade, was awarded one MICHELIN star. Its signature dishes such as “Sea Scallops with Lemon-Celeriac Puree, Salt Baked Fennel and Squid Ink Emulsion” and “Slow-cooked Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb with Eggplant, Bell Pepper and Baked Garlic” are fantastically prepared by Chef de Cuisine Gleb Snegin.

Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong and Macau 2016 for the second consecutive year is Gosto, which captures the true spirit of its home city with a delicious array of traditional Portuguese and Macanese dishes. This year, Gosto hired Master Chan Yok Kong, with over 40 years of experience cooking Macanese dishes, as Culinary Consultant to oversee signature dishes such as “Chef Kong’s Specialty Curry Crab” and “Macanese Style Roasted African Chicken”, while Chef de Cuisine Mario Gil entices guests with his “Sautéed Tiger Prawns with Garlic Butter, Chili and Beer.” Also awarded for the second year in a row is Myung Ga, an eatery that’s all about sharing the fiery delights of authentic Korean cuisine and barbecue food in a cheerful atmosphere.

The Ritz-Carlton, Macau

New Galaxy Macau establishments Lai Heen and The Ritz-Carlton Café each nabbed recommendations in the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong and Macau 2016. Lai Heen exemplifies the finest level of craftsmanship and service in Cantonese dining, while The Ritz-Carlton Café offers the charming ambiance and flavors of a classic French brasserie.

Broadway Macau™

True to its authentic spirit of Macau and Asia, Broadway Macau offers friendly service and the most delectable flavors of Asia with over 40 types of food and beverage options in one location. Over half of these outlets are favorites among local Macanese, giving guests a unique culinary experience. In Broadway Macau’s first MICHELIN Guide Awards season, the property received three mentions – a strong start to Broadway Macau’s tally of prestigious accolades.

The MICHELIN Guide opened a new category this year – street food. Cantonese eatery Lei Ka Choi from owner Joe Lei, popular among locals and famous for its clay pot and Cantonese dishes, wooed with traditional beef brisket and oxtail casserole dishes.

Broadway Macau MICHELIN recommendations went to Katong Corner with its authentic flavors of Singapore including the must-have signatureblack pepper stir-fried crab, laksa and Hainanese chicken rice, all made with fresh, rich ingredients. Also recognized was Wong Kun Sio Kung, a MICHELIN-recommended establishment three years in a row that’s bringing its award-winning crab congee and shrimp roe noodles to Broadway Macau – all under the leadership of owner Cheang Kun Man, who has over 30 years’ experience making noodles in the traditional bamboo method.

In the hotel section, the brand new The Ritz-Carlton, Macau and Banyan Tree Macau both nabbed the prestigious title of Luxury Hotel, a five-time win for Banyan Tree Macau. JW Marriott Hotel Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, Galaxy Hotel and StarWorld Hotel, were all listed under the Top Class Comfort category.

Famed for its “star-rated” quality in hospitality, entertainment, accommodation and restaurants, StarWorld Hotel has been featured in the MICHELIN Guide as a Top Class Comfort pick once again this year, since 2014.
