Garuda Indonesia Implements New Passenger Reservations System

Garuda Indonesia, the airline of Indonesia, will be implementing the newest generation of passenger systems, the ‘Amadeus Altéa’ to further enhance and streamline its operations worldwide.

The new computer reservations system will result in a more seamless reservation process, reduction in check-in times, and advanced level of service for Garuda Indonesia’s customers.

EGT_Artical Banner B 250x250This migration is in line with previous investments, such as Garuda Indonesia’s existing fleet revitalisation program, and will ensure that the carrier is well prepared for its entry into the SkyTeam Alliance in 2014.

President and CEO Garuda Indonesia Mr. Emirsyah Satar said the cut-over is part of the airline’s strategic expansion program through its ‘Quantum Leap 2011-2015’ program: “With the constant rise in passenger volume, flight frequency, and an expanding fleet, implementing this new passenger services system is a necessity if we want to ensure that we continue to provide a comfortable and seamless travel experience for our passengers.”

“Furthermore, by implementing Altéa, Garuda Indonesia will be able to continue increasing productivity, efficiency, revenue and reliability in the future. Altéa will ultimately simplify business processes in our on-going transformation program,” Mr Satar added.

Importantly, the cut-over is one of the stages that must be completed by Garuda Indonesia prior to joining the global SkyTeam, as members of the alliance operate with the Altéa system to share information on seat availability, air tariffs, bookings and ground handling through the check-in and frequent flyers services of each airline.

Altéa will replace Garuda Indonesia’s old reservation system, ARGA, which has been used since 1990. The final transition to the new computer system will start on June 29 at approximately 9.00pm Jakarta time (0.00am EST June 30) and will interrupt Garuda Indonesia’s online booking for a short period of time. Australian passengers needing to make reservations or purchase tickets are encouraged to do so prior to the cutover taking place between 00.00am and 2.00pm on 30 June 2013, as Garuda Indonesia’s reservations and ticketing system will be inaccessible via the airline’s website and its call centre.

Garuda Indonesia flights to and from Australia will operate as normal during this final transition period.  As always, Garuda Indonesia recommends that passengers travelling on electronic tickets should bring a copy of their e-Tickets to the airport. While no additional queuing is currently expected, passengers may wish to arrive at the airport earlier than normal in case of any unexpected congestion resulting from this cut over.

Garuda Indonesia would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during this transition and thank its customers for their continued understanding and support.

Garuda Indonesia will continue to invest in enhancing its service offerings in order to become a five star carrier by 2015.
