Garuda Indonesia, the airline of Indonesia, has introduced inflight WiFi connectivity on board the airline’s B777-300ER aircrafts, available for First, Business and Economy Class passengers.

In addition to accessing internet connection through inflight connectivity, Garuda Indonesia passengers flying with the 777-300ER can also access other services: inflight entertainment, live TV or live broadcast from six international TV stations, namely CNN International, BBC World, BBC Arabic, NHK World Premium, Euronews and CNBC.

Commenting on the new service, Bagus Y. Siregar, Vice President for Garuda Indonesia Australia and SWP said: “This service is part of Garuda Executive In-Flight Connectivity on Demand (Business Class)Indonesia’s commitment to improving our services for the airline’s passengers, especially on medium to long haul flights.

“Being able to continue business during a flight provides a new level of convenience. For our leisure travellers, live TV and unlimited web browsing means they’ll never miss an important game or show when they travel with Garuda Indonesia. We’re also excited to offer this service on our premier First Class on board our new fleet of B777-300ER,” said Siregar.

Garuda Indonesia’s First Class passengers will enjoy WiFi access as a complimentary service, while passengers in Business and Economy Class can purchase unlimited internet service during the flight for a small fee of US$ 11.95 for 1 hour or US$21.95 for 24 hours.

Currently only available on the B777-300ER, Garuda Indonesia will gradually introduce the same service on board the A330-200 and A330-300 fleets for domestic and international routes including Australia.

The service is delivered in cooperation with Garuda Indonesia and PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom). Telkom’s Director of Enterprise Business, Muhammad Awaluddin stated: “We are proud to support Garuda Indonesia in becoming the first airline in Indonesia to provide Inflight Connectivity on board.”

Garuda Indonesia received its first B777-300ER on June 24, 2013 and the second in July 2013. By the end of 2013, Garuda Indonesia will receive two more Boeing 777-300ERs, while six more will be delivered over 2014 and 2015.

As Garuda Indonesia carries out its business transformation program and continuous service improvements, the airline’s performance is increasingly being recognised at an international level. During the Paris Air Show 2013, one of the world’s biggest air shows, held in June 2013, Garuda Indonesia was named The World’s Best Economy Class by SkyTrax, and was included in the list of The World’s Top 10 Airlines.

During the Passenger Choice Award 2013 held in September 2013 in Anaheim, California, USA, Garuda Indonesia was chosen as the Best in Region: Asia and Australasia.
