Garuda Indonesia Named ‘Best In Region: Asia And Australia’ At The Passenger Choice Awards 2013

In line with its ongoing transformation and continuous service improvement program, Garuda Indonesia, the airline of Indonesia, was named winner in the ‘Best in Region: Asia and Australasia’ category at the Passenger Choice Awards 2013.

Garuda Indonesia ranked ahead of other leading airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Qantas Airways, Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand, and Pakistan Airlines who were also finalists in the ‘Best in Region: Asia and Australasia’ category . Garuda Indonesia’s Business Class cabin

The award is organised by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), an industry association improving the airline experience, and was presented to Faik Fahmi, Executive Vice President Services of Garuda Indonesia, during the APEX Award Ceremony held in Anaheim, California on Monday evening, September 9, 2013.

The award is based on a survey on outstanding flight experience for airline passengers around the globe, in the period from mid 2012 till 30 June 2013. The survey was carried out online via www.passengerchoiceawards.com while the results were tabulated by global survey agency Nielsen.

Garuda Indonesia President and CEO, Emirsyah Satar, said that winning the ‘Best in Region: Asia and Australasia’ category in the Passenger Choice Awards 2013 was the result of the hard work and commitment from all Garuda Indonesia employees to deliver the best quality service to its customers in an effort to realise its goal as a ‘Global Player’.

“Thanks to the strong commitment from the management and employees, Garuda Indonesia’s Garuda Indonesia named Best Airline in the Asia and Australasia Region at the Passenger Choice Awards 2013performance is gradually being recognised at international level. This achievement serves as a motivation for us to continuously improve our performance through the ‘Quantum Leap 2011 – 2015’ program, which will see the Garuda Indonesia Group becoming a five-star airline and operating 194 aircraft by 2015,” he commented.

In addition to winning the ‘Best in Region: Asia and Australasia’ category, Garuda Indonesia was among  the Top 5 airlines in the ‘Best Overall Passenger Experience’ category, along with Emirates, Etihad Airways, Virgin America, and Virgin Atlantic, as well as among the Top 5 Best Ground Experience along with Delta Airlines, El Al Israel Airlines, Avianca, and Virgin America.

Commenting on the award, Bagus Y. Siregar, Vice President for Garuda Indonesia Australia and SWP said: “We are thrilled that our service has been recognised in the region and I would like to thank our Australian passengers for supporting our transformation into one of Asia’s leading airlines.  This award provides us with the encouragement to continue to improve and evolve our services and continuously better the flight experience for our passengers.”

The Passenger Choice Awards follows a string of accolades, including the coveted title of ‘The World’s Best Economy Class’ by Skytrax, a global airline ranking agency based in London. Garuda Indonesia was also awarded ‘The Best Economy Class Airline Seat’ and was rated as one of ‘The World’s Top 10 Airlines’ in June 2013.

All awards recognise the success of Garuda Indonesia’s Quantum Leap program which includes the revitalisation of its existing fleet and the introduction of The Garuda Indonesia Experience, the carrier’s service concept that offers a uniquely Indonesian level of service on the ground and inflight. Garuda Indonesia will continue to invest in enhancing its service offerings in order to become a five star carrier by 2015.
