Garuda Indonesia Welcomes New Regional Vice President

Garuda Indonesia, the airline of Indonesia, has announced the appointment of Mr. Uun Setiawan as the airline’s new regional Vice President for Australia, New Zealand and South West Pacific (SWP), based in Sydney.

Uun SetiawanWith 32 years at Garuda Indonesia, Uun Setiawan has held several senior positions including 15 years as General Manager at the airline’s international offices in Darwin, Auckland, Osaka, Fukuoka and Guangzhou. Most recently, Mr. Setiawan has held the position of Senior Manager, International Outbound Routes for a period of two years.

Commenting on his appointment, Uun Setiawan said: “South West Pacific is a very important region for Garuda Indonesia, and I am excited to be taking on this role at a time when our airline is rapidly expanding with new aircraft and routes back into Europe.

“My key objectives are to increase Garuda Indonesia’s market share within the region by building on our strong business relationships with industry partners, and to introduce our customers to yet unknown parts of Indonesia such as Borobudur, Komodo, Kalimantan and the Mentawai Islands.

“We have seen great momentum build here and I am looking forward to be working with my team, preferred retailers and wholesale partners to further increase our brand awareness as one of the leading airlines in the region.”

Educated in Indonesia, Mr Uun Setiawan holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of Jayabaya in Jakarta.

Mr. Uun Setiawan’s appointment as Vice President for Australia, New Zealand and SWP has been effective since 25 October 2013.
