The German National Tourist Office and its partners held the Destination Germany Roadshow in Australia. The week saw successful trivia nights held for over 300 travel industry professionals in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as a media event in Sydney.
The purpose of the roadshow was to showcase this year’s major theme, Traditions & Customs, as well as the diversity of products and experiences available throughout Germany, with the help of the GNTO’s partners. This year’s German partners included airberlin, Design Hotels, VisitBerlin and Lufthansa, and local partners Albatross Tours; Beyond Travel; Excite Holidays; Insight Vacations; Rail Plus; Tempo Holidays and UTracks.
Travel agents, tour operator staff and key airline sales representatives attended the trivia nights, which were themed “Traditions & Customs in Germany”. Event participants learned about Germany’s culinary specialties, living traditions and arts & crafts. Throughout the events, 6 lucky agents were also awarded a spot on a Christmas Markets famil to Germany, in partnership with Lufthansa and Design Hotels.
“We’re thrilled with the results of this year’s roadshow and hugely appreciate the support of our German and Australian partners. We were proud to be able to offer agents the opportunity to learn about a variety of destinations and products, and present Germany in a new light to the Australian travel industry,” said Stefanie Eberhard, Director of the GNTO in Australia.
“Germany’s popularity is consistently increasing for Australian travellers and we certainly felt this excitement from the agents attending our events, many of whom even embraced the theme and came dressed up. We look forward to returning in 2016 to promote the theme of Nature in Germany.”
