Gibby Road, A New Online Community Pairing Local Influencers with Experience Seekers

April 6, 2016 Social Media No Comments Email Email

Gibby Road is a new online community connecting trusted local influencers (Gibbies) with curious experience seekers (Roadies).

Roadies may connect, discover, and book unique insider adventures around the world with in-the-know Gibbies. Authentic experiences may include a sensational night out on the town, daytime lounging at an off the beaten path park, or an exclusive fashion week event. It’s not just finding a cool local experience, it is experiencing the city like a local, with a local. An enthusiastic customer service team, a ratings system and growing community of users ensure all experiences are trustworthy, memorable, and exciting.

Gibbies are well-connected people in vibrant communities like New York City and Los Angeles who are out and about day and night. With access to places, spaces, and special events that may be off-limits without them, Gibbies carefully curate their favorite insider experiences on the website Roadies can pick and choose from a plethora of local experience options, all designed to facilitate stellar local experiences of a destination with personable insiders eager to share their world. Gibbies set the rates on their offerings and for each booking made, a percentage is donated to a philanthropic organization within the community the experience takes place in. For example, a portion of profits from all Brooklyn-based experiences will be donated to City Harvest.

An example of a local experience is a tour of Williamsburg Brooklyn by a local who has lived in the neighborhood for 12 years. It starts with a local distillery tour led by the master distiller. The second stop is an artisanal ice-cream shop and meet & great with the owner and head chef. The tour ends with a cocktail on the rooftop of an iconic Williamsburg hotel with spectacular views (without having to wait in the lines typically needed to gain entry). Another example is an art crawl and lunch in the Californian desert. The journey begins with the 2 ½ hour drive to Joshua Tree art gallery. Second stop is a visit to some hidden art installations in the desert curated by award winning Andrea Zittel. The group then heads to the celebrated Noah Purifoy outdoor museum before settling down to some American fare at a local saloon. If the Roadie doesn’t want to drive back that day, for this particular tour, the Gibby is able to set up a stay at one of the prolific artist, Diane Best’s cabins. In each of the initial launch cities – New York City and Los Angeles – there are hosted picnics, classic cocktail bar tours, bike rides, rock climbing excursions and much more. The experiences are constantly growing and change by the season.

The founding member board approves all Gibbies and experiences. In order to become a Gibby, one must be invited by an existing member, an exclusive but not exclusionary community. New Gibbies are approved each quarter to ensure all experiences are fresh and cutting-edge. Gibby Road makes the buzzworthy world of social media starlets and local influencers accessible, a chance for followers and fans to become friends. The benefits are mutual as Gibbies set the rules, name the price, and ultimately enjoy their own everyday world through new eyes.

The initial 2016 launch cities are New York, Los Angeles and the Hamptons (summer 2016), followed by a full international launch in 2017.

One of the most common questions concierges get asked by travelers is “Where do YOU go when you go out?” Wouldn’t the best answer to that question be “Would you like to come along?”
