The world’s leading organiser of trade and consumer exhibitions will give Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island (SEC@GI) its final curtain call when it holds one of its signature shows – Reed Gift Fairs Sydney September – at the venue.
The essential summer retail-sourcing fair from Reed Exhibitions Australia is running from 17 to 20 September, the last event to be held at SEC@GI before the venue closes to give way for International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney).
“We’ve gone the full circle,” says Stephen Steenson, Group Director – Operations for Reed Exhibitions Australia. “We were there at the very start with the first of our successful gift fairs at Glebe Island, and it’s very fitting that we’re there at the end.”
Reed Gift Fairs Sydney February was the inaugural event of the exhibition centre when it opened in February 2014.
“We’re pleased to mark the completion of Glebe Island with one of our great collaborators,” says Malu Barrios, SEC@GI General Manager. “Reed Exhibitions is ‘family’ and the ideal partner for delivering successful events. Every year they gave as a hit season opener with Reed Gift Fairs.”
Reed Exhibitions Australia is also SEC@GI’s largest client over its three-year operations, holding 14 shows at the venue that together covered approximately 258,700m2 in a variety of configurations to suit a diverse range of both trade and consumer exhibitions. Reed Gift Fairs Sydney February and September, Hair Expo Australia, Beauty Expo Australia, and Oz Comic-Con, all of which will move to ICC Sydney, drew more than 220,000 visitors to SEC@GI.
“Raise your glass to Glebe Island,” says Steenson. It’s been a pleasure to be part of the ‘Island Experience’, which has given us a great environment to grow in as well as an easy transition to our permanent home in Darling Harbour.”
SEC@GI will close later this month, after having served as the home base of Sydney’s major exhibitions throughout the three-year build of ICC Sydney.
