Executive Japanese Chef Tetsuya Yanagida of Tatsu Japanese CuisineLuxury city hotel InterContinental Kuala Lumpur unveiled the much anticipated ballroom with a grand launch after significant investment and renovation. On February 20, corporate clients of the hotel were invited to celebrate the launch of its elegant ballroom over delectable gastronomic offerings.

Stepping into the grand and glittering ballroom, guests of the evening were wowed with the luxurious space and extensive food on display. They were caught on surprised with blackout followed by a flash mob dance performance by none other than the Sales & Marketing team to the famous rendition of ‘Thriller’ by the King of Pop.

Highlights of the evening continued with a live performance by Masterchef Yanagida on carving a 35kg fresh tuna, various live action stations featuring mouth-watering Peking duck, foie gras, wagyu beef and cod fillet, an assortment of dessert platform with a colourful macaron tower and a dedicated ice sculpture pouring chilled sake. The evening ended with 40 lucky draw prizes including voucher stay in InterContinental Hanoi, Saigon and the grand prize for 3 days / 2 nights stay in InterContinental Ambassador Suite worth RM14, 000.

Conceptualised by Thailand’s foremost interior design company P49 Deesign, the pillarless ballroom embodies the perfect integration of simplicity and luxury to cater to the modern day cosmopolitan. The contemporary aesthetics feature dark timber woods with silver mirror finishing and natural waves of the of the rippling crystal chandeliers adorning the ceiling for a truly embellishing experience.

Catering up to 700 guests for dinner and 1000 theatre style, the refurbished ballroom is the perfect luxury elegance for hosting splendid up-market event and affairs. The current refurbishment of the grand ballroom is only the beginning of the overall improvement program which includes major renovation of all the hotel’s function spaces. The ballroom foyer, Junior Ballroom and the smaller meeting rooms will be fully renovated by mid of June this year.

The overall function space is equipped with upgraded audiovisual amenities, new high-resolution LCD projectors, HDMI, Wi-Fi connectivity, increased motorised screens and programmable LED lightings to create better ambiance and to suit every function requirements. Adding to the enhancement, three new coffee break stations is the latest offering from InterContinental Meetings.
