Sydney, Australia, 04 May- The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has recorded an outstanding response at the end of the 42nd GTM Germany Travel Mart™.The results of an on-site survey indicated 89% of the exhibitors were satisfied or very satisfied, with almost 90% intending to take part again in 2017.

The most important trade event for Germany’s incoming tourism was this year held in Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg for the first time. More than 500 international key account managers, tourism professionals and journalists from 45 countries participated in the B2B platform, meeting with over 300 German exhibitors from hospitality, incoming, transport, and local and regional tourism organisations.

Professional organisation and perfect presentation by the host cities

This year’s GTM hosts were Magdeburg Marketing Kongress and Tourism PLC. The twoday workshop held at Messe Magdeburg, which was the central element of the trade event, was heralded as a great success for all participants. Suppliers particularly praised the excellent event organisation by the GNTB and the host city Magdeburg. Positive feedback was also given about the quality of the workshops and the use of public transport. The general program was also particularly well received, including the official opening at the Maritim Hotel and evening dinner at Magdeburg cathedral square. The host city has also arranged a medival Christmas market which ended with a fascinating fire show.

Expanded social media presence as an element of sustainability

To make the event accessible to a broader audience, the GNTB again reported live from this year‘s event on Twitter (#gtm16).

The 42nd GTM was once again hosted by the GNTB as a ‚Green Event‘. To meet the sustainability goals, international participant arrivals were carbon neutral, transfers for participants were offered on public transport, catering was by local sources, and there was no disposable tableware in use. Next year, the 43rd GTM will take place in Nuremberg.
