Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and agency Finn Partners, have won Gold and Silver in the prestigious Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Adrian Awards.

Turkey received the gold and silver awards for a story in the online and print editions ofThe New York Times’ annual feature, “Top Places to Go.” In recommending Turkey as one of the top 52 places to visit in 2017, the publication called the island of Bozcaada, “delightfully secluded: a 50-minute plane ride from Istanbul to Canakkale followed by a leisurely ferry ride.”

The awards are a direct result of the on-going mission of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in North America to generate evocative articles that convey the many tourism attractions and facilities throughout Turkey.

“We are thrilled to again be recognized by the top tourism marketing awards” said Ms. Tülin Sermin Özduran, Director of Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in New York.

“For destination marketing organizations, The New York Times’ “Top Places to Go” list is the most prestigious feature on trending destinations as it is widely followed by both travellers and the travel industry, and sets the tone for the year ahead.”

Turkey has been featured on the list nine times since 2009: The Aegean Sea and Bodrum (2009), Cesme and Istanbul (2010), Erzurum (2011), Istanbul (2013), Kas (2015), Cesme (2016) and Bozcaada (2017).

Announced at the Adrian Awards Gala at the New York Marriott Marquis on February 20, 2018, it brings Turkey a total of six gold, three silver, and one bronze since Finn Partners began working with The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey in 2009, highlighting the long-term effectiveness of the agency’s public relations program.

Out of more than 1,100 entries submitted this year, Finn Partners’ work was judged to be exceptional by experts in hospitality, travel, tourism and media. Adrian Awards from previous years include:
