InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort has unveiled a stunning $6million refurbishment of its 251 rooms, suites and breakfast destination, Cove Café.

Enlisting the services of Brisbane-based architecture and interior design company Daarc for its premier suites, the resort’s accommodation collection has been skilfully redesigned with the intention to blend indoor and outdoor. The resort’s new furnishings and layout are inspired by the property’s 1-acre Lagoon Beach Pool and the 4.2 hectares of tropical gardens that surround the three accommodation wings – Marina View, Garden View and Lagoon View.

Marina View, Garden View and Lagoon Pool Rooms feature a fresh palette of teal blues, olive greens, tasteful greys and crisp whites accented by modern gold fittings. Rooms boast deluxe new bedding and furniture from leading industry specialists at Hotel Interiors, white marble bench tops and blonde-timber panelling on cabinetry, plus all-new outdoor furniture and ambient lighting. Large work desks create seamless zones in the rooms, allowing guests to work and play in luxury.

All rooms have an adjoining ensuite and are available with a king bed or twin double beds. Rooms are equipped with a large flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi compatibility and iPod docking stations.

The resort’s Manor, Federation, Queenslander and Homestead Suites have been transformed into soothing havens of modern comfort and luxuriousness. Suites feature a neutral palette, which is elevated with pops of colour that draw on the tropical aesthetic flowing through the resort’s luxe new look.

The property’s popular breakfast destination, Cove Café, also has been reinvigorated with a tropic-inspired aesthetic, featuring natural oak panelling and olive-hued velvets.

InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s General Manager, Matt Rippin, said the program of enhancements introduced a new chapter in resort accommodation for the property, cementing its position within the Gold Coast’s luxury resort market.

“Refurbishments started mid-June 2019 and included a revamp of all our guest rooms and collection of premier suites across the Federation, Manor, Queenslander and Homestead range,” Mr Rippin said. “The refurbishment artfully reflects the natural beauty of the resort’s grounds, embracing the green hues to blend in with the property’s unique design features including stained-glass windows in the Great House.

“The resort still retains the elegance and style of a grand Queensland estate, but when guests retreat to their rooms, they will now enjoy a distinct sense of destination infused with the signature modern comfort of InterContinental Hotels and Resorts.

“This investment from the owners of InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, Mulpha Australia, injects new energy into the resort as IHG moves into its eighth year of managing the property.”

The gardens framing the resort’s accommodation and conference facilities are also being rejuvenated and during 2020 rooms and suites will be fitted with in-room iPad compendiums for easy-to-manage and more eco-friendly room services.

Mr Rippin said that even though different sections of the resort were closed for refurbishments in 2019, the property had maintained high occupancy and continued to strengthen its reputation as one of Australia’s premier luxury destinations for weddings, golf, corporate meetings and conferences.

Simone Barr, Director at Daarc Architecture + Interiors, who led the design team that worked on the resort’s Homestead and Queenslander Suites, said the room interiors were designed to evoke the same essence of calm that the resort’s lush sub-tropical garden setting provided.

“The soft neutral tones, natural timbers and warm lighting all work together to create a tranquil retreat perfect for a relaxing escape,” Ms Barr said.
