Kicking off in style, it is shucking up this summer with the introduction of its first ever oyster festival: The Southern Hemisphere Edition. Featuring the Tasmanian Oyster, Grand Central invites you to discover the oyster of all oysters, grown with some of the cleanest, most pure oceanic waters on the planet.
Flown in jet-fresh from the edge of the world, the Pacific Oyster [Crassostrea Gigas] was originally introduced from Japan and is available from March until December. “Each growing region in Tasmania, just like wine, produces an oyster with a unique taste, color, appearance and flavor that is particular to that region: says Adrian Kavanagh, Executive Chef of Grand Central. Our Tasmanian Oysters are from cloudy bay lagoon at Bruny Island, one of the last pieces of unspoiled wilderness left in Australia. This Lagoon has an enormous ecosystem, which provides rapid growth & conditioning just about all year round. Feast on these oysters and be assured of oysters with creaminess and large meats, which nearly burst from their shells.”
