Hot off a multi-million dollar renovation that took almost 4 years, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is once again presenting itself as THE CHOICE for pampering travel experiences and extravagant, memorable events.
Since the hotel opened in November 1989, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong has an invincible track record of hosting international dignitaries and Heads of State, the A-list of entertainment world, celebrities and high society, offering 545 luxurious rooms and suites (including two Presidential Suites which are among the largest in Hong Kong), 10 restaurants and bars, a residential spa unique in the city, 21 event venues catering to bold and extraordinary events of all styles and sizes.
Situated at the prime waterfront of Hong Kong Island, facing the world-famous Victoria Harbour, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong has over the years become synonymous with hospitality excellence, and has garnered infinite awards and accolades complementing its thoughtful designs, premium facilities, gourmet cuisine, and most of all, the impeccable service second to none.
Designed to embody the glamour of luxury travel, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong’s lobby harks back to the height of the Art Deco era, representing glamour and exuberance. The Lobby’s three-storey high ceiling, curvilinear staircases leading to the upper mezzanine floor, grand marbled columns, period décor pieces and indoor water features all remind guests of a luxurious cruise liner – the in-fashion way of travel for the rich and famous in the swinging 1930s.
With a similar concept in mind, the hotel’s guestrooms are build to frame around the spectacular views of Victoria Harbour, the vibrant city lights of Hong Kong, or the tranquil landscaped garden of the hotel. Following the renovation of guestrooms in 2015 by Melbourne-based BAR Studio, each room has been imbued with striking spaciousness with a newly created “living zone” – featuring a multi-purpose solid timber table adjacent to the windows, allowing guests to engage with the city while living in the comfort of their room.
The spaciousness is further enhanced by blending the space between the bedroom and the bathroom, with an open bathtub, a walk-in shower, a separate toilet, glass light-fixtures and neutral sand-tone marbled vanity.
Completing renovation in 2016, also masterminded by BAR Studio, are some of Hong Kong’s most sought-after hotel suites, including two Presidential Suites and five Ambassador Suites. With 27 years of history of playing home to some of the most high profile and at times, demanding guests in the world, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong re-designed these suites according to the different personalities of guests who have stayed in the past. Now guests staying in the same suite layout and size can also choose their preferred styles – “Classic Traditional” or “Contemporary Eclectic”, and “Aristocratic Adventurer” or “Bohemian Chic”.
All located on the top three floors of the hotel, these suites are afforded extra security and privacy with a separate set of elevators. Designed to encourage entertainment and conversations, these suites not only take care of guests’ accommodation needs, but at the same time allow them to continue with business and social activities as if they were at home. Any corner of the suites can become a social space – the dining room for proper lunch and dinner; the living room and foyer for cocktails or socialite’s afternoon tea, as well as serious Chairman’s meetings and media interviews on the suites’ multiple sets of sofa seating.
Guests staying in suites and on Grand Club floors have exclusive access to a private two-storey lounge on the 30th and 31st floors. The elegant spiral staircase leads to a light-filled lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a unique bird’s eye view of the harbour and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Another project recently completed by BAR Studio, the lounge serves complimentary breakfast, artfully presented snacks and evening cocktails, free-flowing Champagne all day, surrounded by contemporary artwork designed to make guests feel fully indulged for all senses.
The proud home of equally renowned restaurants and bars, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong offers guests an exciting range of dining options, all offering authentic cuisine with the hotel’s signature heart-warming service.
One Harbour Road combines the elegance of a Taipan’s mansion in the 1930s with authentic Cantonese cuisine, with the backdrop of the breathtaking Victoria Harbour. Grand Hyatt Steakhouse is celebrated for its prime cuts of the world’s finest beef, complete with a stylish wine room and an intimate cigar tasting room. Grissini serves true-to-form Italian delicacies in a casual chic ambiance. Kaetsu delivers traditional Japanese cuisine with an extensive sake menu featuring several rare vintages. Also newly re-designed by BAR Studio, Grand Cafe is freshly back in the spotlight with open show kitchens, and all-time-favourite comfort food. Situated on the Mezzanine floor above the Lobby, Tiffin offers an ever-exciting view of the buzzing lobby.
Other restaurants and bars include Champagne Bar featuring an intriguing list of Champagnes with live entertainment; The Grill offers alfresco dining experience right by the free-form outdoor swimming pool; The adjacent Waterfall Bar presents refreshing drinks and snacks in an artfully landscaped oasis.
Designed with a resident spa concept that is unique in the city, Plateau Spa is a private and secluded sanctuary atop the vibrant city of Hong Kong. Guests are invited to embark on wellness journeys of their choice, to relax, rejuvenate and revive body and mind. Award-winning treatments can be conducted in 13 luxurious and tranquil treatment suites with en-suite bathrooms, or any of the 10 residential rooms and suites designed to induce calmness, and zen-like state of mind.
Recreational facilities at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong include a 50-metre outdoor free-form heated swimming pool surrounded by lush trees, sauna overlooking the harbour, two tennis courts, a squash court, a simulated golf driving range, a jogging track and 24-hour fitness studios.
Reputed to be THE hotel for glamourous events, prestigious meetings and conferences, and stylish chic private parties, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong features 21 event and meeting venues of different styles and sizes. The Grand Ballroom is the heart and soul of major eye-opening events in town. The Residence is an opulent Art-Deco style home with a communal show kitchen. The Pool House is the best-kept-secret comfortably tucked away in the lush greenery facing the hotel’s swimming pool.
In summing up Grand Hyatt’s position in the Hong Kong market, Mr Philip Yu, the hotel’s general manager, said, “Grand Hyatt is a bridge with the romantic past and a link with the exciting future. For many years, Hong Kong has combined the cosmopolitan western world with the mysterious Orient. Grand Hyatt continues this theme but adds the elegance of the past with the sophistication of today.”
