The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) will hold the 2017 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) in the brand-new International Convention Centre, Sydney, on Saturday 22 July 2017.
NTIA is the most celebrated event on the travel industry calendar. Last year’s NTIA at the Pavilion Darling Harbour was the biggest award celebration the industry has ever seen, with Australia’s travel industry in full gala mode. Thirty-eight travel industry individuals and businesses, recognised and awarded for their excellence and contribution to the travel industry, took to the stage.
“If we thought the event couldn’t get any bigger, it just did!” said AFTA chief executive Jayson Westbury earlier this week, launching the 2017 NTIA at Qantas headquarters. Qantas is the long-standing major sponsor of the awards and platinum partner to AFTA.
The gala dinner will be held in the purpose built International Convention Centre ballroom, which accommodates 1500 guests.
“The industry will be pleased to know that guests will enjoy extra legroom in this new venue,” Westbury joked.
“The new venue will accommodate the overwhelming ticket requests received each year and enable more of the industry to join in the celebrations. Sponsors and attending guests are in for a treat as the AFTA Team has even more surprises in store for next year,” Westbury added.
Qantas will host the 2017 Finalist Judging at its Mascot headquarters, giving the industry a sneak peek into the Australian airline’s modern campus.
Qantas executive manager customer and commercial relationships, Vanessa Hudson, said Qantas was proud to continue its longstanding partnership with AFTA and be the major sponsor of the 2017 NTIAs.
“The NTIAs shine a spotlight on the best that our industry has to offer which is why we’re delighted to be the event’s major sponsor for 10 years running,” she said.
“We’re also pleased to be a platinum partner of AFTA and work closely with them to assist in delivering outstanding support and advocacy for the Australian travel industry.”
Westbury described NTIA as a “monumental industry collaboration.
“Without the support of our many sponsors, including Qantas as our major sponsor and the many businesses and individuals who chose to partake in the award process, we could not deliver what’s all too often coined ‘the industry’s night of nights’”, he said.
“Industry, please put Saturday 22 July in the diary as a night not to be missed,” Westbury concluded.
