The Mekong Delta in Vietnam is a cyclists paradise, with gorgeous, gentle (and flat) landscapes and quiet paths and tracks for relaxed riding. Grasshopper Adventures is now bringing this wonderful part of Vietnam to a wider cycling audience with the introduction of two short, but quite different tours.
Mekong Delta in Style – 3 days
For those who like a little luxury at the end of a day’s riding the new ‘Mekong Delta in Style’ tour will come as a welcome addition to the Grasshopper range of trips. The tour takes riders on a journey along canal paths and orchard trails, across ferries that sometimes only fit half a dozen people and through the charming villages and towns that this area is known for, to immerse them deep into the Delta and its unique way of life.
The total cycling distance covered in 3 days is around 105km, over completely flat terrain and with minimal traffic. The riding is easy and relaxed but a support van is also on hand to give tired cyclists a rest. At the end of each day guests can relax and experience two of the top rated hotel properties in all of southern Vietnam.
Mekong Homestay Explorer – 2 days
The new ‘Mekong Homestay Explorer’ tour presents a different experience of the Mekong Delta, swapping luxury accommodation for an authentic and charming family homestay, and will appeal to those who like to get right under the skin of a destination. As much an eating tour as a biking journey, the fresh farm-to-table cuisine of the area that is offered on this tour will delight guests as much as the friendly, welcoming homestay hosts.
Covering around 90km on two wheels, the cycling is relaxed and easy and can be accomplished by riders of any standard. A support vehicle is on hand for those who need a rest from riding.
