A collective of 17 of Australia’s premier private clubs and courses, Great Golf Courses was founded in December 2011 as a joint marketing partnership between the Golf Industry, Tourism Australia and State Tourism Bodies.

Developed to showcase Australia’s signature golf offer – including the 7 courses in the world top 100 – and grow our share of the international golf tourism pie, Great Golf Courses of Australia announced the addition of two new course categories, Premier Golf Courses and Unique Australian Golf Experiences, to support the 17 existing courses of the Signature Collection.

“We believe that the addition of the Premier Courses and Unique Golf Experiences to the Great Golf Courses portfolio will help add depth to the program by facilitating the inclusion golf facilities in regions that we know are tourism hotspots. As the program has developed, we have seen increasing international demand for golf product that is suited to a broader budget and is increasingly regionally dispersed,” said Elizabeth Sattler, Executive Officer of Great Golf Courses of Australia.

“Our intention with the program was to lead with the best, which includes the 17 courses of the Signature tier. The addition of the Premier Courses and Unique Golf Experiences categories will help us to provide international golfers with a more comprehensive cross section of the Australian golfing offer, allowing for players of all experience levels to enjoy a class of golf to suit their liking,” Sattler said.

Western Australia is the location of the first addition of courses to the Premier Courses and Unique Golf Experiences categories. Five of WA’s best golf tracks will join the Great Golf Courses collective from December 1 including; Kalgoorlie Golf Course, Meadow Springs Golf & Country Club, Secret Harbour Golf Links, Nullarbor Links and The Cut Golf Couse.

“Western Australia offers a completely unique golf and tourism proposition. Our aim with the expansion of Great Golf Courses is to provide international golfers with an experience that is uniquely Australian. From great course design to friendly hospitality and native flora and fauna, the courses of Western Australia certainly meet this prerequisite,” said Sattler.

“We are really excited to welcome the Western Australian courses into the fold,” she said.

This expansion is the first of many for GGA with a South Australian branch of new courses set to be announced before year’s end.
