EUROPEAN specialist Beyond Travel has recently expanded its Scandinavian product range with the introduction of the Northern Lights tours in Norway, the natural light show that is created when solar winds meet the atmosphere in a zone around the magnetic North Pole, forming arches, waves and curls of light across the night sky.
There are multiple guaranteed departure dates in 2016 during the Northern Winter when the region becomes a whitewonderland, a kind never to be found in Australia, over January, February and March.
The five-day Unique Northern Lights tour begins in Alta, known as the ‘Northern Lights City’ where you will have your first view of Aurora Borealis on a Northern Light Safari. During your stay you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Alta Museum, see the world’s most northern Igloo Hotel the Sorrisniva, see Norway’s Arctic fjords and visit Tromso – a former starting point for many polar expeditions.
Priced from only $1500 per person twin share, the package includes four nights hotel accommodation with breakfast, an English-speaking tour director, transportation and comprehensive sightseeing.
There are also many optional tours to add to the itineraries and the chance to upgrade the package to stay at the Snow Hotel for an additional cost.
An extended eight-day Around the Cape Northern Lights package, featuring a Hurtigruten Cruise and snow hotel options is also available from $2400 per person twin share.
