From deep sea to lakes and waterways, Greater Fort Lauderdale is a water sports enthusiast’s delight.  Coupled with a ‘lauderlicious’ food scene and endless dining options, including many dock and dine restaurants, it’s no surprise that the destination will be showcased this July in a well-deserved close-up in the upcoming season of Fox Sports’ “Anglers & Appetites” show which combines two favorite pastimes: fishing and dining.

In each half-hour episode, hosts Dave Zelski and Phil Proctor bring the show to some of the best fishing destinations in the U.S. and cover where to travel, stay, fish, eat and play. As one of the few areas in the world where both fresh water and salt water fishing are within 20 minutes of each other and with a reputation for thrilling game fishing, Greater Fort Lauderdale’s diverse fishing experiences will be featured in two episodes of the upcoming second season of “Anglers & Appetites.”  Additionally, each of the season’s 13 episodes will feature a Hello Sunny segment highlighting the very best of Greater Fort Lauderdale.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale storyline starts with an epic deep-sea fishing battle with a 240-pound goliath grouper; the catch and release took place off Deerfield Beach with Fort Lauderdale-based fishing charter Fishing Headquarters.  The dining side of the show will feature a taste of a true dock and dine experience as the hosts bring freshly caught snapper and mahi-mahi to Deerfield’s Two Georges at the Cove Restaurant on the Intracoastal Waterway, where chef Tom LaPaglia helps prepare a sizzling waterfront meal.

“I taught my children and grandchildren how to fish in Greater Fort Lauderdale and I know first-hand how much fun it is for serious anglers to family-friendly outings,” said Nicki E. Grossman, president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “We are thrilled that ‘Anglers & Appetites’ will capture that excitement as well as our boating and water culture and great restaurants and chefs.”

“What a perfect home base for a cooking, fishing, travel destination show; it is a producer’s dream,” said David Zelski, host and executive producer of ‘Anglers & Appetites.’ “From Las Olas to Deerfield Beach, the variety is hard to beat! Our crew has been spoiled with incredible cuisine over the last several months and the hospitality has been the cherry on top.  The one thing I am sure of is that we will never run out of stories here in Broward County. Hello Sunny has delivered indeed!”

“Anglers & Appetites” airs on Fox Sports South, available in seven states and reaches nearly 14 million households and on Fox Sun Sports in Florida, reaching an additional seven million households. The episodes can be downloaded for free on iTunes or viewed on the “Anglers & Appetites” website. Season 2 will debut on Sunday, July 5th.
