1460690905217-1Promotion of “Green MICE” is a major mission of Taiwan’s MICE Promotion Program (MEET TAIWAN). To assist the Taiwan MICE industry with going green and progressing toward sustainability, exhibition organizers are encouraged to submit applications for holding a MEET TAIWAN-sponsored Green Booth Decoration Competition at their events. The goal is to encourage exhibition organizers to encourage their exhibitors to contribute to the greening of the environment through design and the use of environmentally friendly materials by creating booths that save energy and reduce carbon, yet remain stylish.

Last year, the first occurrence of this competition was a collaboration between the Taiwan’s MICE Promotion Program, PV Taiwan, and the Taiwan International Green Industry Show (TIGIS) with satisfactory results. This year, to bolster and clarify efforts, Taiwan Exhibition Green Booth Competition Guidelines were established. These practical working guidelines describe five major considerations of green booths: power and energy saving, carbon reducing decorations, green publicity, sustainable environments, and innovative green designs. Also, comprehensive guidelines listing specific practices (such as using energy-saving LED lamps and light bulbs, recycled carpets, and a lower ratio of wood decorations) are available for show organizers to encourage their exhibitors to go green. All exhibition organizers are welcome to participate in the competition, and rewards include up to NTD 30,000 in cash prizes and follow-up publicity for each selected event.

Show organizers interested in holding a MEET TAIWAN-sponsored Green Booth Decoration Competition at their exhibitions are welcome to visit the MEET TAIWAN website for more information and to download related documents in the “Green MICE” section. Completed application forms should be sent by postal mail between April 18 and May 6 (postmark as a proof), and selection results will be posted on the MEET TAIWAN website on May 13, 2016.
