unnamed (10)Greenhouse and Summer Pavilion, signature restaurants at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore are scheduled to undergo a five-month transformation through late August.

Award-winning, New York-based designer, Tony Chi who possesses worldwide renown for crafting some of the world’s most stunning hotels and restaurants, has been appointed to design the interiors for the new restaurants.

A new all-day dining restaurant will be unveiled post-transformation, while an elevated Cantonese fine dining experience awaits at the transformed Summer Pavilion. During the transformation, Chihuly Lounge and the Pool Bar will offer enhanced lunch and dinner a la carte menus, while the hotel’s signature Vintage Champagne Sunday Brunch will be served in the Garden Pavilion on Sundays.

The theme for the transformation, “Refreshing Our Palette” was inspired by the homonyms “palette” and “palate”, which reference an artist’s palette and our taste palate, respectively. Leveraging on the hotel’s long-standing reputation as an art hotel, it was befitting to chronicle the transformation of the restaurants through a series of ‘live’ art installations.

A Metamorphosis Through Art

The hotel commissioned five different ‘live’ art pieces which will take on four distinct themes – Deconstruction, Curiosity, The Metamorphic Journey and The Reveal, alluding to each transformation phase of the restaurants.

The first piece, a three-dimensional anamorphic art piece will feature the “deconstruction” of Greenhouse.  Famous Penang street artist, Ernest Zacharevic will paint the “curiosity” surrounding the transformation in the second piece. The “metamorphic journey” will bring visitors through Chinese, Peranakan and Colonial themes while “the reveal” will be a realistic sketch of the new all-day dining restaurant’s interior.

From April, each artist will showcase their craft ‘live’ in the hotel lobby for three hours a day, for approximately a week every month. Visitors can look forward to the interactive component of some art installations and the opportunity to engage with several artists. The schedules for the first two art installations are as follows:
