Gregor Wateler Joins Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai As General Manager

Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai welcomes Gregor Wateler as the hotel’s general manager.  He previously held the same position at Kerry Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai.


During the four years of Gregor’s tenure at Kerry Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai, the hotel was awarded distinguished industrial awards, including “Best Business Hotel” by Travel + Leisure (China), “Best Family Friendly Hotel” at the Conde Nast Traveller Gold List 2017 and “Best Meeting & Convention Hotel in Shanghai” by TTG China.

A native of Germany, Gregor began his first hotel position at a five-star hotel in Berlin, Germany.  His experience in the hospitality industry spans 28 years, more than 19 years of which have been spent in senior management positions at nine of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ properties in Asia, starting from Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore in 1998.  While steadily rising through the ranks, Gregor’s career brought him from Berlin to France, Indonesia, Egypt, Singapore, and China.

In his leisure time, Gregor indulges in various sports, including surfing, mountain climbing and long-distance running.
